Abstract: Under the dual pressures of population aging and cultural inheritance, the value oftraditional craftsmanship achieving modern transmission through material carriers has becomeincreasingly prominent, This study, grounded in the theoretical framework of material culturetransmission, examines mortise-and-tenon craftsmanship as a representative case, It meticulouslyanalyzes the cultural memory-awakening mechanisms and practical implementation pathwaysembedded within its integration into senior cognitive toy design. By synthesizing material culturestudies and memory psychology research paradigms, it establishes an analytical modelencompassing four dimensions-"symbolic representation-medium transmission-sensoryexperience-emotional connection"and comprehensively elucidates the cultural symbolism, tactile perceptual atributes, and cognitive adaptation principles inherent in mortis-and-tenon structures. - sensory experience-emotional connection." It comprehensively elucidates the culturalsymbolism, tactile perception attributes, and cognitive adaptation principles inherent inmortise-and-tenon structures. This study employs the mortise-and-tenon principles of the Lu Banlock as a design prototype, transforming the structural wisdom of traditional craftsmanship intoan educational toy that fosters cultural identity and cognitive training. It explores the toy's role inawakening cultural memory through three dimensions: symbolic construction, tactiletransmission, and interactive ritual. By channeling the mortise-and-tenon structure through thecommunication pathway of "tactile experiencecognitive training-memory evocation," thedesign effectively stimulates cultural memory and emotional resonance in the elderly. Thisfacilitates a transformation of traditional craftsmanship from "static appreciation" to "dynamicexperience," providing empirical reference for the contemporary revitalization of traditionalculture and the design of toys for the elderly.
